European Sports Week is a new European Commission’s initiative to promote sport and physical activity across Europe. The European Sports Week will create new activities and will also build on existing successful initiatives at European, national, regional or local level.
This Europe-wide campaign will be an inspiration for Europeans to #BeActive along the week and to encourage them to stay active throughout the year.
As part of the BeActive event, Olympians, Paralympians and sports men/women were at the cradle of culture, the Sacred Rock of the Acropolis, “uniting” culture and sport.
The Minister of Culture Ms Lina Mendoni accompanied by the Secretary General of Sports George Mavrotas, whose contribution to the success of the event was praised by Mrs. Mendoni, were the representatives of the Government.
The President of the Hellenic Paralympic Committee Christos Kaloudis, the President of the Association of Greek Olympians Voula Kozoboli, the Olympian Ioannis Melissanidis, the Olympian Maria Christoforidou, the Ambassador of BeActive Paralympian Kelly Loufaki, the Paralympian Gregory Polychronidis, the Paralympian Ioannis Kostakis, the Paralympian Anna Ntenda, the Paralympian Anastasia Pyrgioti, the Paralympian Marios Kanellis Hatzikyriakos, the Paralympian Katerina Polychronidi Patroni, the Paralympian Christina Ntenda, the Paralympian Ioannis Pyrgiotis, were among the attendants of the event.
The event was also attended by the Director of the Deputy Minister of Sports Lefteris Avgenakis, Mr Stavros Tsoulos, the Deputy Regional Governor George Dimopoulos, Member of the HSFPD Kostas Siachos, the President of HWBF Mr Harris Perdikis and many other people and members of BeActive.
